Introduction
Painting
I experience painting as an intellectual and existential exercise in arranging images that although collected from or inspired by my external reality seem to resonate metaphorically with something inside myself.
I want to pack and compress different elements into an apparently effortless arrangement or design where unexpected connections are made and there is a brief moment of insight or a feeling of wholeness.
To do this I work in the plan view, borrowing the format of the diagram. A diagram is a abstract universally recognized pictorial way of delivering detailed information or instructions. It conveys only the essence of the true meaning but hints at much more.
